Art Tours of Israel ‎

A teeming cauldron of energy, Israel’s art is among the most exciting and original art in the world.  The confluence of many different cultures, the intensity of life in Israel in all its various aspects, and the general national culture of creating something from nothing – the so called Start-Up Nation culture which permeates all aspects of life in Israel – encourages the creation of art which goes beyond the realm of the usual.

Keshet InnovatioNation’s Art Tours of Israel provide an unparalleled insight into Israel’s very soul.  One such tour was the Denver-based Mizel Museum’s Art and Culture Tour of Israel which explored multiple aspects of Israel through its art:

THE CONTEMPORARY: Beginning in Tel Aviv the tour explored Holon’s Design Museum guided by Chief Curator Galit Gaon.

THE TRADITIONAL: That same day the group enjoyed a gourmet dinner catered in the home of one of the world’s leading Judaica collectors, Bill Gross and his artist wife Lisa (nee Spertus) Gross who shared his thoughts on Judaica and Jewish Art, as well as showing Judaica treasures from their private collection.

JUDAISM AND FEMINISM: The group toured an exhibition entitled Matronita: Jewish Feminist Art at the Kibbutz Ein Harod Art Museum.  Later they met with Israeli artist Andi Arnovitz in her unique Jerusalem home for a private viewing of her works and a discussion about the fact that much of her work deals with complexities and tensions regarding women’s role in Judaism.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: The group had dinner and an intensely candid discussion with a group of young and emerging Israeli artists who live in the Block Art Cooperative in Haifa

THE MULTI-ETHNIC: The group visited the Umm el Fahem Art Gallery for a meeting with Director, Said Abu Shakra to get a taste of the role of art in Palestinian Israeli life and identity.

ISRAELI SOCIETY THROUGH LITERATURE: Israeli author Eshkol Nevo, one of Israel’s rising literary superstars, shared readings and insights from his book Homesick.

THE FAMOUS AND THE SUPER FAMOUS: The group met with some of the most famous of Israelis artists, including Sigalit Landau, exploring her unique work at her Cariatyd exhibit in the Negev Museum of Art. They also had an evening to meet ballet icon and dance photographer Mikhail Baryshnikov at his photography exhibit opening in Neveh Tzedek’s Suzanne Dellal Center

THE SPIRITUAL: Group members met artist and Kabbalistic scholar David Friedman at his home studio in Zefat.

THE MESSY: The itinerary was a multi-sensual experience, with numerous hands-on workshops at renowned Clay, Glass, Print, and Dance workshop venues.

THE DRAMATIC: The group viewed a play at the world famous Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv, followed by a personal meeting and conversation with Artistic Director Noam Semel

THE JEWISH: In the studio of artist David Moss, revolutionary pioneer of Jewish art, the group enjoyed a survey of the artist’s work over the previous three decades.

In the words of Mizel Trip participant, Scott Lyons: “This place is so jam-packed with life – a big cauldron of fussing, doing, talking and laughing. I had no idea how vibrant it would be!”

Let your soul run wild in the artistic panoply of Israel. It will change the way you view art, Israel and…yourself!
